Clik: www.inkocentre.org/Virtual_Connect_Infotainment.html

The Emerging Canvas series that commenced in 2012, was initiated by InKo Centre, in association with The Indian Art Museum in Korea to identify and celebrate emerging young talent from both countries.

This e-compendium pays tribute to 132 talented artists, presented across 6 edition of this series.

Flip through these pages to see what young Indian and Korean artists of the future have to offer!

Each carefully curated edition of the series, presented 22 artists – 11 each from each country - at exhibitions presented by InKo Centre And the Indian Art Museum in Seoul and in Chennai, every alternate year, respectively.

As the title suggests, the artists are young, their talent emerging as does a butterfly from a chrysalis, their potential obvious, their journey just beginning.

The Korean section of this series is curated with great care by the Indian Art Museum under the able stewardship of Mrs Kim Yang-shik who over the past four decades has dedicated herself to the promotion of Indian art and culture in general and of Rabindranath Tagore's work and philosophy, in particular, in Korea. The Indian section has been carefully curated by independent curator, Ms Vaishnavi Ramanathan, diligently capturing the wealth of emerging talent across India.

The e-compendium will be in the infotainment section on our website:

We commence an episodic journey that will bring back the magic of theatre, specially selected for children!

Up first, is Theater Seoul's classic, Choon Hyang that recreates a traditional, well-loved folktale with panache! With deft choreography, precise movements, lilting music and beautiful costumes made of hanji, this production is an aural and visual treat, that stole the hearts of millions in India when it first premiered in 2010.

InKo Centre, in association with local partners, has consistently presented high quality productions for children from 2010 to date. We believe that children are the citizens of tomorrow and that early exposure to wholesome artistic expression creates an eco-system that helps foster creative ideas, communication and co-existence.

Our focus has been to present exceptional performances from Korea across a South India circuit- at Children's Festivals such as the Little Festival in Chennai, the Aha! Festival in Bengaluru and with the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Hyderabad and Guntur - with an aim to connect meaningfully with a large network of school children, their parents and teachers. All our productions aimed to focus on what was unique in Korean theatre, to examine how traditional technique and training continue to have contemporary relevance and to present messages that were universal and timeless.

While presenting interesting and innovative examples of Children's theatre productions from Korea, we look out for opportunities to research and develop new, vibrant Indo-Korean collaborative theatre productions for children.
